HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD-BYE

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "ANY CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEAR CREATION".

I've made a new year card, which is unusual for me, but I do have someone in mind for this card. I've used toppers from a freebie kit to make a quite simple card.

As most of you know, this will be the last challenge for Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge, as Hazel has decided to take a break. It's been an honour being part of this blog for so long, and I'm really going to miss it. Thank you to everyone who has supported the blog over the years!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "INCLUDE THE WORD MERRY".

I have made a simple card this week, using pretty backing paper and a "Merry Christmas" die cut.

We've decorated our house now so well in to the spirit! Just wish work was over but alas, it looks like I'll be doing six days this week!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

CHRISTMAS ANGEL AND SAD NEWS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "THINGS WITH WINGS".

I intended to use my cute penguin dies to make my card this week but as per usual, I couldn't find them, and, as per usual, I found a die I'd forgotten about. So the angel card was made! I used snowflake backing paper layered on gold mirri card and cut the sentiment from gold mirri too, simple but sophisticated.

Now for some sad news from our leader, Hazel:

Having run this Christmas challenge blog for twelve years, I've been thinking it's time for a break .... this isn't an easy or quick decision, but one that has been on my mind for some time and recent family situations and life in general has made me realise that this is the right decision. I've been through difficult times during those twelve years and have never missed a challenge. So the challenge on 31 December will be the last one.

I've been so grateful for all those who have been on the design team over the years, including, of course, the present ones - also for the many sponsors who were so generous. So many have shared their inspirational designs and so many wonderful crafters have entered the challenges to share theirs.

Of course I am saddened by this but I totally understand. Hazel has worked tirelessly to keep two excellent blogs going but it's time for her to have a rest! I do plan on carrying on cardmaking, I have to....I have to much stuff to use up!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

HAPPY HEART AND SAD NEWS

Good morning! It's a new month which means it's new challenge time at Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. The theme, as always, is "ANYTHING GOES". We simply require you to use some patterned paper or card. Time to use that stash!

I have made an anniversary card for my neighbours, who have just celebrated 52 years together. That is some achievement!

I used a sheet of patterned paper, cutting about seven scalloped heart shapes. These were then folded in half and I glued them back to back, creating a 3-d effect. The back is the same patterned paper layered onto red card, and I printed the sentiment on my PC.

Now, the sad news. Here is an announcement from our leader, Hazel:

Having run the Patterned Paper blog for eight years, I've been thinking it's time for a break .... this isn't an easy or quick decision, but one that has been on my mind for some time and recent family situations and life in general has made me realise that this is the right decision. I've been through difficult times during those eight years and have never missed a challenge. So the December challenge will be the last one,

I've been so grateful for all those who have been on the design team over the years, including, of course, the present ones.
